Use your business model to answer “what should I import from China?”
Searches like “what to import from China for resale”, “China wholesale product ideas” and “products to buy on 1688” can generate ideas, but no product guarantees demand or profit. Evaluate each option for your buyers, sales channel and budget.
Explore retail equipment, food production machinery, electrical and automation equipment, construction equipment and agricultural equipment. These are research directions, not guaranteed best sellers.
Seven checks before ordering
### 1. Who is the buyer?
Define the customer: a retailer, manufacturer, restaurant, repair service, contractor or end user. State what need the product solves. A listing’s popularity does not prove demand in your destination market.
### 2. What evidence supports demand?
Review local search results, competitor offers, marketplaces, wholesale catalogs and customer questions. For a large order, speak with potential buyers or seek preliminary interest first. Sales on a Chinese platform do not equal demand in your market.
### 3. What is the total landed cost?
Add packaging, delivery within China, inspection, international freight and applicable import and selling costs to the product price. Compare more than cost per kilogram: cargo volume, fragility and route can also change the economics.
### 4. Do the MOQ and batch size fit?
Confirm the MOQ, size and color mix, production batch budget and repeat-order terms. TEAM A→Z projects have a US$5,000 minimum order value for goods and can include several product lines; supplier MOQs are confirmed separately. Freight and services are separate.
### 5. How will you stand out?
Your value might be a better configuration, local stock, maintenance, spare parts, advice, private labeling or B2B quantities. If price is the only difference, check whether the margin can withstand competition.
### 6. Are compliance documents required?
Before paying for electrical, medical, children’s or other regulated products, check the rules for the exact model in the destination country. Do not assume a supplier’s certificate automatically meets local requirements; consult the relevant authority or specialist when needed.
### 7. Can you verify the supplier and product?
Ask whether the seller is a manufacturer or trading company, who controls production, what current photos or videos are available and how defects are handled. For a significant order, discuss a sample, acceptance criteria and pre-shipment inspection.
Compare product ideas in one table
For each option, record evidence of demand, buyer profile, total landed cost, MOQ, compliance documents, supply risks and expected reorder cycle. Mark unknowns clearly and get confirmation before treating estimates as facts.
### Which product is best for a new business?
There is no universal answer. Look for a clear buyer, verifiable specifications, a manageable batch and acceptable total cost. Check local requirements in advance for regulated or technically complex products.
### Should I order a sample first?
A sample can help verify materials, dimensions, operation and packaging, but it cannot guarantee the whole production batch. Agree on inspection criteria and the level of batch checks separately.
