When sourcing a CNC laser cutting machine from China, it is tempting to compare models by power and price alone. Machines can be designed for different materials, sheet sizes and production volumes. Send suppliers the same written specification so their offers are genuinely comparable.

1. Define the material and finished part

Name the metal grades and any other materials, maximum sheet size and the thickest part you need to cut. Include expected output per shift or month. “Metal cutting machine” by itself is not enough to identify the right configuration.

2. Ask for a sample cut

Request a test using your material. The same power rating can produce different results depending on material, speed and edge-quality requirements. Ask for a short video and photos of the cut sample, and record the test conditions.

3. Working area and machine layout

Confirm table size, axis travel, loading method and the space available for installation. If you need to cut tubes, check whether a tube module is included and what workpiece sizes it supports. The catalog has examples of a portable gantry CNC fibre-laser cutter and a 3 kW metal-cutting model; confirm the exact specification and configuration with the supplier.

4. Cooling, power and fume extraction

Ask for the voltage, phase and frequency requirements, plus chiller and extraction requirements. Compare the machine’s dimensions and weight with your workshop doors, floor and layout before confirming the order.

5. Controls and what is included

Request the CNC controller model, software, language options, licences, consumables and spare-parts list. Ask the supplier to state in writing what is included in the quoted price and what costs extra. If metal marking is also needed, compare a separate fibre-laser marking machine.

Information to include in a supplier RFQ

  • Material and a part photo or drawing
  • Maximum sheet size and material thickness
  • Expected output and operating schedule
  • Available power and installation constraints
  • Required options, warranty and technical support

How to compare supplier quotes

Ask every supplier for the price, configuration, lead time, MOQ and warranty using the same checklist. Compare the sample cut, software, spare parts and installation requirements alongside the power rating and initial price.

TEAM A→Z sourcing projects have a minimum goods budget of $5,000. Keep the request focused on products that serve one business or production need; there is no need to add unrelated items just to reach the amount. We confirm each item’s MOQ, price and configuration separately.

Request a machine shortlist

Add the material, dimensions, part photo and estimated quantity to the catalog, then send one request. A manager will follow up to clarify suitable models and supplier terms.
